Amazon Elastic Container Service Task Icon

An Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) task is a unit of execution within ECS. It represents a container or a group of containers that run together as a single logical unit. You define the containers and their configurations within a task definition. When you launch a service, ECS runs multiple instances of your task definition across a cluster of EC2 instances. Each instance of the task definition is considered a task. Essentially, a task allows you to run and manage your application's containers on AWS.
